Profile


Papa Ibrahima Diallo, Senegalese artist and musician, masters woodcraft using smooth ebony, produces unique batiks and plays the djembe – some of which his inspired by the spiritualism of the mouride brotherhood the Baye Falls. He uses traditional methods and tools, and is inspired by daily Senegalese life, nature and its mystic features, but also produces modern and abstract designs for his art.

He has worked for over 20 years on the Senegalese and Gambian art scene. As he has travelled extensively he has worked on the historical island of Goree, in the ancient Senegalese capital of St. Louis, the traditional villages of Casamance, the busy tourist resorts of Saly, and the bustling art markets of Dakar and Bakau, the Gambia.

He is one of the founders of the Baye Fall culture association with its base in Stockholm, Sweden.
